The Relationship between Self-Knowledge and Basic Psychological Needs with Emotioal and Learning Self-Regulation

Abstract :
The aim of this research was to examine the potential effects of self-knowledge in the relationship between basic psychological needs and learning and emotional self-regulation. Through carrying out a correlational study, 230 students were selected via random classification sampling The tools included Basic Psychological Needs Scale, Integrative Self-Knowledge Scale, Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ), and Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ). Performance questionnaire and data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient and regression analysis. Findings revealed a significant positive correlation between basic psychological needs with self-regulation learning and cognitive emotion regulation strategies. As substantiated through path analysis, the relationship between basic psychological needs and cognitive emotion regulation strategies was moderated by self-knowledge.
